Carillon Festival - Stratford Summer Music

To mark the opening of Stratford’s Sesquicentennial project - Market Square behind City Hall - Stratford Summer Music is proud to bring to the Square the Chime Master Mobile Millennium Carillon, a 13-ton, mobile instrument with 48 bells over four octaves, played manually from an organ style keyboard.

This Mobile Carillon is the largest of three carillon instruments currently touring North America;  it brings the carillon, traditionally a tower instrument, down to ground level where sensations of seeing the carillonneur play, hearing the bells and feeling the vibration of sound blend into a unique and dynamic musical experience.    The music of the Mobile Carillon will ring through Stratford’s City Centre as a unique experience to help inaugurate the 2017 season of this new civic site.

This event is wheelchair accessible.

Cost: Free

Location: Market Square, Stratford, Ontario, 1 Wellington Street, Stratford

“Stratford itself is the type of walkable wholesome town Rodgers and Hammerstein might write a musical about.”
