Cabaret, featuring Carmen Braden & Members of the New North Collective - Stratford Summer Music
Event Date: Friday Aug. 11th, 2017
Event Time: 9 pm - 10 pm
Host: Stratford Summer Music
For this seventeenth year, the traditions, the fun, the location and the variety continue with Summer Music Cabarets featuring some of Canada’s finest singers, actors, instrumentalists and all-round outstanding entertainers. But there is one major change, for this year the shows move from Saturday to Friday nights.
Carmen Braden & Members of the New North Collective
Carmen Braden (Yellowknife, Northwest Territories) is a composer/performer creatively transforming the sounds and experiences of life in Canada’s sub-Arctic and beyond. Her jazz-influenced song-style tells of life in the north through clever story and cheeky song. Performing new material as well as songs from her 2017 album Ravens, Carmen brings a simplicity to the piano and voice that allows the audience to move past listening and get right to the heart. Joined by a core of other northern performers, Carmen travels her music along an evolving and dynamic journey. She will be joined on stage by members of the New North Collective - Graeme Peters (drums/vocals) and Jody Peters (bass/vocals) from the Yukon, and Jan de Vroede (guitar) from Greenland.
